How does the Servebolt Cloud platform work?

«The server response time for the HTML itself is often the biggest problem, and the hardest one to solve»Patrick Meenan Web Performance Engineer at Cloudflare. Former web performance engineer at Google, Creator of

Servebolt Cloud solves exactly this problem using a combination of networking, software and hardware resulting in up to 6x faster page loading. Better for you, better for your users.

Fast. Without rockets and spoilers

Modern, slimmed and tuned

While others try to add more components to their hosting to make it go faster, we decided to build our hosting cloud fast from the ground up. We did so by stripping out everything we knew was deadweight.

Our hosting is amazingly fast, without the use of complicated HTML caching strategies, cache in memory – and so on. Instead, our platform makes sure both cached and uncached requests are immediate.

And yes, this applies to the back-end as well.

The Servebolt Performance First Cloud

The hosting stack

Built from the ground, and tuned for performance

With Servebolt you get an optimized server based caching configuration, ready to use. The stack is configured for optimal caching of static assets, and full page caching.

Internet facing webserver

We use NGINX as the user & internet facing webserver, as a reverse proxy. NGINX handles SSL-negotiation, compression and caching. Optimized for web performance and scalability, out-of-the-box.

Apache provides the most popular, and easy to use web hosting environment. As a user, you will feel at home right away and have all the documentation you need to tweak settings.

Networking and connectivity

Data transport has to be stable, fast, unlimited and with low latency. We use Infiniband and partner with the best providers on the most central intern hubs around the World.

We own, operate and maintain all hardware in the Servebolt Cloud. That allows us to build custom optimizations, that use special features that specific hardware components provide.

PHP powers close to 80% of websites in the World. Bolts support all current versions, but we encourage you to use the fastest and latest. Our builds are up to 30% faster than stock versions of PHP.

The database is what is used to store all website data, and on Servebolt we use the modern MySQL database, MariaDB. Servebolt databases deliver market leading query performance, up to 8x faster than stock MariaDB.

Operating System

Servebolt ❤️Linux. We maintain our own Linux distribution that is tailored for security, scalability and web performance. Servebolt Linux is the basis for the exceptional performance every Bolt delivers.

Bolts are better

The Servebolt Cloud is 100% managed, which means that you and can focus all of your team’s time on site development – not hosting. Enjoy the freedom of a constantly maintained, optimized and updated hosting platform, using the best, latest and fastest technologies.

The Servebolt Cloud is the perfect mix of managed performance. It’s built with everyone in mind, offering both easy-to-use and advanced developer tools. You don’t need a doctors degree to be a performance expert with Servebolt.

Our managed platform offers a higher degree of security than any self-managed server solution. And Bolts provide resources in excess, for both performance and scalability.

Bolts are not VPS, shared or dedicated servers. Bolts are simply better.

Custom deploy workflows

Deploy with the tools you love – or use our automated Git integration

Git integrated

We have Git integrated in our control panel, with webhooks for automated deployment when changes are detected in the branch you’ve set up to be automatically deployed. The deployment is done in less than 3 seconds – with no downtime.

Use your own tools

We integrate easily with most deploy, build and CI tools via SSH & rsync. We make it easy for you to use your own tools like Capistrano, DeployHQ, Codeship, Jenkins, TeamCity and many more.

Designed to be secure

The security of our clients and partners is extremely important to us. Our platform is designed with a very high level of security, with all servers being secured by AppArmor and other security measures.

All of our systems are continually monitored, upgraded and patched with the latest security updates.

We’re also working closely with our up and downstream partners like Blix Solutions and Cloudflare, to monitor and block malicious traffic to our servers.

Cloudflare Optimized Partner

Servebolt is an official partner of Cloudflare. Cloudflare is the world’s largest provider of security as a feature. We use and recommend their security features for our clients.

Mission critical infrastructure

Always available

Our infrastructure is designed for high availability, with failover components in all layers of the stack. This means that if something fails, an automatic failover switches to using other components. In addition to the magic failover switching, our team monitors our platform 24/7 ensuring that everything is working smoothly.

We provide all customers with a 99,9% system uptime guarantee and 100% network and power uptime in our SLA – free of charge.
