What is WordPress Multisite?
WordPress includes the ability to create a network of sites by using the multisite feature.
WordPress includes the ability to create a network of sites using the multisite feature. A site in a multisite has the same capabilities as a regular single site install, but you also get one shared WP-admin, network wide plugin management, cross site user management and one shared codebase across all the sites in the network.
A multisite installation can also be set up to allow users to create their own sites from WP-admin.
Use multisite to achieve a multilingual WordPress
By using plugins like MultilingualPress WordPress can become multilingual in a very structured and easily manageable way. MultilingualPress and Polylang is the two recommended ways of setting up WordPress with multiple languages. The latter does not require a multisite installation.
