Servebolt Backups

We perform daily and nightly disaster recovery backups of all files and databases for all our clients. However, we encourage everyone to back up their files and databases before updating or installing new plugins.

Backups are made every four hours and are kept for 30 days. They are encrypted and stored in two off-site locations within the EU/EEA.

Requesting a backup of your website

To request a backup or restore of your website, you can contact Servebolt support through the live chat at Servebolt.com.

Note: For now, requesting a website backup or restoration is a manual process. Therefore, we process backup requests as quickly as possible, but they can sometimes take several hours.

Storage Exclusion for Backups

Servebolt ensures that the backups do not contribute to the allocated Storage space on your Bolt plan. Servebolt provides free-of-charge storage for these backups in a dedicated space. This means that the storage available on your Bolt plan remains unaffected by the backups we make.

GDPR Compliant Storage

We store one daily backup for the last 14 days and two weekly snapshots afterwards. You can request backups dating back up to 30 days. This is to comply with GDPR and not store client data without a reason.

Why 30 Days?

We limit how old backups we restore to help our clients be GDPR compliant. However, we can keep some backups longer to investigate hacked applications or environments. Only the Servebolt security team can access backups stored for over 30 days in these cases.

Additional Information

  • Servebolt backups are non-intrusive and don’t impact our client’s website performance.
  • Backups can be easily restored, either completely or in part, through our live chat. There is no cost for restoring a backup.
  • Servebolt does not perform backups of free test Bolts.
