The Intersection of Tech and Sustainability: The Climate Neutral Data Center Pact

Climate change is real and needs our immediate and focused attention. At Servebolt, offering sustainable web hosting is part of our DNA and is reflected in every feature or service that we build. Reducing our carbon footprint as much as possible is of the highest priority. It’s an integral part of our efficient and fast hosting stack.

By 2040, the carbon footprint of the technology sector could account for 14% of the global total, more than half of which comes from data centers.

As our CEO mentioned before, if we want positive global change to happen, Servebolt as a company has to have a net positive impact on the global environment. Our mission is to build a sustainable and fast internet by building a global, faster, and more efficient website hosting infrastructure accessible to everyone.

In order for us to be able to do that, our partners must be aligned with that same vision. The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 17 encourages businesses to partner to reach the goals, strengthen the means of implementation, and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development. We’ve partnered with Blix Solutions, a high-performance and availability network and data center provider, to host our cloud infrastructure in the most sustainable fashion.

Unveiling the Benefits of Climate-Neutral Data Centers

Last month, Blix Solutions joined the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact, which is a self-regulatory initiative taken by data center operators and trade associations that are committed to reducing greenhouse gas and making Europe climate-neutral by 2030. We couldn’t be happier with this as this further aligns Blix Solutions’ operations with how we like to see them. We’re also excited to see that Blix is, just like we are, looking beyond the next 5 years.

The initiative intends to achieve this ambitious target by ensuring all signatories follow the defined set of actions. These actions include:

  • Efficient energy consumption.
  • Make use of clean energy to power data centers.
  • Water conservation.
  • The reuse, repair, and recycling of servers and related appliances.
  • Reuse of heat produces by data centers.

By signing the Pact, Blix Solutions adheres to the above actions that make them the perfect sustainable network and data center provider for Servebolt.

Eco-Lighthouse Certified

On 6th July 2021, the CEO of Blix Solutions, Eirik H. Blix, on his LinkedIn profile announced the news of becoming Eco-Lighthouse certified (Miljøfyrtårn in Norwegian). Eco-Lighthouse is an Environmental Management system that administers the environmental performance and responsibility of businesses. It ensures that the business includes environmental aspects from its operations to the working environment. This milestone shows Blix Solutions’ commitment to greener and more sustainable energy utilization.

Sustainable Practices: Transforming the Tech Industry

Our planet has been serving us for billions of years, and now it’s the time that we should give back — through collective and individual efforts. At Servebolt, we make sustainability an essential part of everything that we do, and it is at the core of our scalable green hosting offerings. Our focus on sustainability is anchored in the management of our organization. As a company, we are now iterating and incrementally improving, and Blix allows us to further our effort. That’s what a great partnership is all about.
