Why doesn’t the disk quota update whenever I delete something?

Our Control Panel’s dashboard doesn’t immediately reflect changes in disk usage for a Bolt. If you delete a file or directory or upgrade your existing Bolt plan to have more storage, the Control Panel might show the wrong value as it updates every 5 minutes. You can see the time of the last update by hovering over the percentage sign like this:
