The new Servebolt Admin Panel is the customer-facing side of Servebolt, which customers use to manage their Bolts, environments, sites, domains and SSL certificates. It has been rebuilt from the ground up with loads of new tools, customer-requested features, and an improved UX. The main concept was to create a working platform for our customers that is simple, easy-to-use, and personal. It reflects our belief that providing a high quality of service should show even in the smallest interface details of the tools we give you.

Breaking Our Own Records

Back in 2019, we introduced a major update to our Admin Panel, consisting of over 700 commits, which at the time felt like an unbeatable record. As we noted back then:

“The project started with the goal of enabling our clients to pay with their credit card automatically and ended with us changing the look and feel of the control panel in addition to lots of other improvements.”

That was a milestone for us, but what we’ve built today goes far beyond that.

This time, we didn’t just enhance the existing Admin Panel—we rebuilt it from the ground up. We’ve spent even more time, made more commits, and pushed our innovation further than ever before. The result? An Admin Panel that is faster, more powerful, and packed with features that truly make a difference.

We believe hosting management should empower, not frustrate. Building a User-Centric Solution

Our new Admin Panel was developed from the ground up, guided by client feedback and modern hosting demands. We didn’t just create another interface—we reimagined the hosting experience to prioritize simplicity, speed, and functionality. 

The nature and architecture of our new Admin Panel, being a focal part of the Servebolt stack, is to offer manageability for products and allow us to develop and release more customer-facing on-the-fly features. 

By addressing pain points from the old platform, like PHP upgrades requiring migrations or the lack of built-in statistics, we’ve built a tool that reflects the real needs of modern developers, site owners, and performance enthusiasts.

A Closer Look at the Features

Our goal with the Servebolt Admin Panel dashboard is to streamline your site administration experience and help you manage your sites efficiently.

Here are some of the notable new Servebolt Admin Panel features:

1. Sleek Navigation Bar

During the beta testing period, we worked closely with our customers to improve the top-of-page menu in the Admin Panel, making it easier for you to navigate the dashboard efficiently.

The updated navigation bar features a minimalistic colour scheme and new elements to enhance usability. A key change is the improved functionality of the breadcrumb navigation component. Additionally, we’ve added a simple magnifying glass icon that launches the Global Search feature, allowing you to search through all our technical resources, as well as your Bolts, Environments, Domains, and Databases.

2. Overall Improved Contextual Information

It’s now easier to retrieve and manage information both at the Bolt level and at the environment level. 

3. Change PHP Version Per Environment

The days of cumbersome migrations just to update your (website’s/environment’s) PHP version are now history. Now, with a single click, you can upgrade PHP directly in the Admin Panel for each environment. No new paths, no DNS changes, and no headaches.

This feature not only saves time but also reduces the risk of errors. Whether you’re a developer testing a new PHP version or a site owner ensuring compatibility, it’s all just a click away.

3. Real-Time Statistics

For the first time, Servebolt clients have access to detailed statistics. Track how changes to your environment affect performance, monitor Dynamic Requests, and keep an eye on Storage usage over time—all from a sleek, user-friendly interface.

Knowledge is power. These insights let you make data-driven decisions to optimize your website’s performance and resources.

4. Cache Purge Options

Caching is critical for speed, but there are times when you need to reset. Purging cache is now as simple as pressing a button. Forget the manual workarounds—our Admin Panel makes clearing your cache for any environment effortless. This feature ensures you can do so instantly, without complications.

5. Self-Service Let’s Encrypt SSL

Security is paramount, and this feature ensures your sites are protected with minimal effort and maximum convenience. No more waiting on support to issue SSL certificates. With our new Let’s Encrypt option, you can secure your site instantly, whenever you need it.

6. SSH Key Management

SSH keys provide a secure, efficient way to manage access, streamlining workflows and bolstering security.

Developers, rejoice! You can now add SSH keys directly in the Admin Panel, enabling passwordless access to your environments.

7. Custom Git Deploy Paths

You asked, we delivered. Deploy your Git repository to any custom path within your ~/site/ directory.

Flexibility is key for modern development. This feature allows you to tailor your deployment process to fit your unique workflow.

8. Configure PHP Modules

Enable or disable PHP modules for each environment with ease. This feature gives you control over your environment’s capabilities, ensuring compatibility while balancing performance needs.

The default selection of PHP modules should be sufficient to run your website. However, if your environment requires additional modules, it’s just a toggle away in this section. Remember that enabling PHP Modules might affect your website’s performance, as additional code needs to be loaded for every request processed.

9. API first approach

All features in the new Admin Panel are also available as API endpoints in the Servebolt API. This feature enables you to integrate the management and administration of your hosting in Servebolt Cloud into your own systems, applications, and automatic workflows.

11. Easier Cron Job Management

As a customer, you can now edit existing cron jobs instead of needing to delete them and create new ones.

12. Simple Transfer of Ownership

One for those on the Partner Programs, a few button clicks and your customers can take over ownership of their website. Once the new owner accepts the website, they will be directly responsible for its payments.  Also great for those that have sold off their business to someone else, transferring the site to the new owner can be achieved in minutes. 

13. The Security You Expect

MFA (Multi Factor Authentication) is available for all users of the Admin Panel, and now it’s even easier to add Technical Contacts or Developers to your Bolts uniquely. And just as simple to remove them also.

Couple that with SSH keys, and you have Fort Knox where only the right people can access the sensitive things or make changes. 

14. Searching Like No Other

Direct in the Admin Panel you can now easily search for anything you own or maintain, plus our help center docs and blog articles. No longer do you have to remember where a specific domain is located, just click search in the top bar and type it in. No more guess work or maintaining spreadsheets for those with multiple bolts.

15. Dark Mode

Last but not least, we’re excited to announce that the long-awaited dark mode feature is now available in Servebolt’s Admin Panel! You can choose between:

  

  • Light mode for a classic look
  • Dark mode for a more comfortable experience in low-light environments. This feature will reduce eye strain and improve readability in dim settings, catering to user preferences for modern, customisable application aesthetics.
  • System default to automatically follow your device’s appearance settings

To enable dark mode or adjust your preferences, head over to your account settings and select the Appearance tab.
